The fic I robbed from Xiaolou Yang. At that time we were dividing the translation of 24/7. She translated from chapter 26 to front, and I did from the 16th to the back. OK ,let’s go back to the SUBTERFUGE. Yang told me that she had read an article which was the only one made her cry and it was so fantasitic that she wanted to translate it herself. So first of all, she showed me the awards SUBTERFUGE won.I was also also astonished by so many award and became interested in as well.Comparing with me, the kind of people who will be driven in mad so easily when we’re addicted to something, Yang likes cross-stitch and has the responsbility of her family. More important, she will be a mother. Once i had the crazy experince that translated 50k’s 24/7 within a week(Notice; i have my own work in the day time). And because of that, i’m the so called Rocket A.( By the way, many persons asked me the meaning of ASPS, in fact,it means As soon as possible. See,that’s really suitable for the Rocket A). So, when Yang was busy in cross-stitch and 24/7, i tried to ask her: will you keep your plan about the translation? Then she said, you may finish it as you like.Haha, i started the translation as soon as possible,just like the flash.





Ch16 of 24/7 was the first trial of tranlation. At the very beginning, it was hard to get used to it but after several chapters i found myself in the right place. Then I turn to the finished one, SUBTERFUGE. Anyway, it went fine. Be honest, i even didn’t watch the TV show, so when I met the scenarios happened in the show, I had to invent something through self imagination first, and then asked Xiaolou in free times. If anybody found any ambivalence between the translated article and TV show, that’s my fault. On the other hand, I have got the bad habit of adding adjectives which even did not appear in the SUBTERFUGE.For example, in the last wrestle, all tops were under masks. In order to save Skinner, Fox spoke out he was FBI. Xanthe’s words are: “He hesitates for a long moment, weighing up his options.” And I translate this scene as “Saunders hesitates for a long moment, without any expression.” But at that moment, he is under his mask! I found this huge bug even after hanging it on the internet. It was so funny that I cannot help it—if he is under mask, how could we know that he is without any experssion? So the words “without any expresion” is Asps’ invention. It is funny and it seems nobody finds that bug.



And now i’d like to talk about the characteristics. In SUBTERFUGE, fox is very innocent and candid, impertinent as well. I turned back to 24/7 just after translating several chapters of SUBTERFUGE, I thought that it went wrong; maybe it wasn’t a suitable way to translate a man into the feeling of some kind childish. Thanks to the other readers, they reminded me that Xanthe’s Mulder had many different characters in her different stories, it was not so serious to concern too much. Actually, I did not like Fox when I read SUBTERFUGE in the first time, I just felt that he was not brave enough. But during the process of translating, I liked his innocence and candor gradually. In the beginning, he couldn’t face the attractiveness from Skinner, all he did was evasion. But later, his love was so firm. After first night, it was Skinner who showed the hesitation and avoidance. However, Fox said, “”. Skinner hurt seriously twice, and each time, his tears dropped down (I like the descriptions of the crying very very much). He decided to give himself to someone else to save skinner, and he told Skinner he loved him actively. The fear of  maybe was not brave, but in my point of view, it was common and acceptable. He couldn’t protect himself in M and he was weak to some extent. It is not cowardly but natural someone shows his or her frighten at the moment he or she feels pain and threaten. Skinner could be superior and dauntless, those excellent characters origins from his experience in Vietnam War. So we cannot ask Fox to have all those characters. In fact, the differences between Fox and Skinner are just the perfect collocation.





Oh, I have to mention Saunders. Such a bad guy is a successful character. Firstly, he released Fox—you’re not glad to do that? OK, I won’t force you. But I do have my own methods to let you go back to me. Then, he released Fox again, this time, we can find that, as a bad guy, his performance was extraordinary. His explanation about the control of Skinner to Fox was meticulous and brilliant. I would like to value highly just because he admitted his failure in front of Skinner—This tells he honored and respected his opponent. I always feel that he is extraordinary and lonely in M, no one else could match and exceed him, he had to find some who can have a real battle with him always. He is also the person has special charm
